Round Massage Bolster (Knee Roll & Positioning Roller)

What massage bolsters are used for in practice
The goal is simple: reduce strain, improve alignment and increase comfort. A small bolster under ankles, knees or the lumbar area can change how a client experiences the entire session — especially for clients who struggle to lie flat for longer periods.
If you’re starting out, knee and ankle support are the quickest wins. From there, add shape-specific options (round vs half-round) based on your treatment style and client needs.
Which shape should you choose?
- Round bolster: versatile support for ankles, knees and neck/upper body positioning.
- Half-round bolster: stable, prevents rolling, great for knee support and lumbar comfort.
- Face cushion: improves pressure distribution and client comfort during prone treatments.
- Pregnancy positioning cushion/bolster: supports side-lying comfort where available.
HowTo: Use a bolster for more comfortable lower-back and knee support
- Knee comfort: place a half-round bolster under the knees for supine positioning to reduce lower-back tension.
- Ankle comfort: place a round bolster under ankles in prone positioning to reduce pressure on the feet.
